Dr Tony Twamley

IRC Postdoctoral Fellow, School of Agriculture & Food Science University College Dublin

My name is Dr Tony Twamley. I hold an Hons degree in Horticulture which was completed at the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin and at Dublin City University. I completed a PhD in Crop Science at University College Dublin (UCD). Since then I have worked as a post-doctoral researcher at UCD. I have recently been appointed as a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Horticulture at UCD. The modules that I am going to teach at GDIC include: Plants and People, Fundamentals of Horticulture, and Advanced Technologies in Temperate Fruit Crops.

Dr Peter Dunne

Assistant Professor, School of Agriculture & Food Science University College Dublin

I completed my PhD at University College Dublin and Teagasc (the Irish Agriculture & Food Development Authority) in 2004 which looked at animal and production factors affecting the colour and quality of beef. I have extensive experience as a post-doctoral researcher and also in both public and private sector research roles in Ireland and the United Kingdom. My teaching roles go back almost 20 years to what is now Technological University of Dublin where I delivered a Food Chemistry module between 2002 and 2005. My teachings included Principles of Meat Science, Food Chemistry, Food Ingredients and Food Biotechnology. I am an enthusiastic and committed professional who aspires to continually improve his teaching practice, deliver a quality learning experience to students and transmit enthusiasm for the subjects he covers.
