Alumni Story: An Interview with Kim Hayden Clinical Nurse Specialist Palliative Care

Kim qualified as a nurse at the Adelaide Hospital, Dublin in 1993. She worked for several years as a staff nurse gaining experience in a variety of medical and surgical areas and later went on to work in public health. She is currently working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care in St Vincent’s Private Hospital.

I went into nursing straight from school. We were the last class to complete the Diploma in Nursing (2001-2004) and we were the first nursing class to enter nursing via the CAO system. I trained in St Vincent’s University Hospital while completing my nursing diploma in UCD.

Jean Doherty is a Registered Midwife working in the National Maternity Hospital. Jean commenced her BSc Midwifery in National Maternity Hospital and UCD in 2010 as a mature student and qualified as a midwife in 2014 with a first class honours.
