Inspiring journey across borders

During the Placemaking Urban and Rural Design course we embarked on an inspiring journey across borders! Last week, we had the privilege of virtually hosting Ximena Ocampo Aguilar and Francisco Paille, co-founders of dérive LAB and street experiment pioneers from Mexico and Colombia. These urban design visionaries generously shared their groundbreaking participatory approaches and projects with our undergraduate students. They highlighted the need for participatory approaches attentive to local uses and understanding of public space. Witnessing the power of street experiments firsthand, our students were blown away by the transformative possibilities they offer for cities worldwide!
