About Us

We are an interdisciplinary, international Centre for wellbeing research, policy and, practice. The COVID-19 pandemic, current conflict areas, and the influence of digital technology on people’s lives have further brought to light the importance of wellbeing across the lifespan, and thus the work of the Centre will be impactful within UCD, Ireland, and internationally:

Centre Objectives:

  • Bring together the UCD wellbeing community to increase interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Position UCD as a leader in wellbeing research nationally and globally, thereby increasing opportunities for international collaborations and securing funding
  • Provide wellbeing education/CPD, capacity building and talent development
  • Attract and develop international students, postgraduate and postdoctoral scholars, and faculty, building a supportive community for wellbeing scholars.
  • Engage with governments, business, NGOs, and communities to co-create impactful wellbeing intervention research on policy and practice
  • Lead the (opens in a new window)Growing Up in Digital Europe (GUIDE) Research Infrastructure, the first comparative longitudinal study of wellbeing from birth to early adulthood.

The Centre’s contribution to the field will revolutionise how policymakers, practitioners, and researchers approach this global societal challenge and develop targeted evidence-based practices that prioritise wellbeing, resulting in improved mental health, education, and overall quality of life across the lifespan.
