UCD Centre for the Advancement of Wellbeing in Education
Focuses on wellbeing research, intervention development, and education.
Wellbeing
The Centre defines wellbeing broadly as quality of life, happiness, and participation of all people so that they have opportunities to thrive and achieve their full potential. Under this conceptualisation, including individual, psychological, social, economic, environmental, and political dimensions, the Centre brings together interdisciplinary, international expertise to grow UCD’s existing work in this area leading to policy and practice impacts. These aims align with the four themes of the UCD Strategy 2020-2024 and the five themes of (opens in a new window)Department of Further, Higher Education, Research, Innovation & Science Impact 2030 Strategy.
The Centre is unique within UCD and Ireland
Adding value by focusing on wellbeing across a lifespan and channeling UCD’s expertise to play a leading role in addressing wellbeing as a major global issue. UCD is uniquely positioned for the Centre, as Ireland's largest and most globally engaged university that trains educators, psychologists, health professionals, and researchers with a whole university approach to wellbeing, inclusive practices, and engagement.
