Equine CVE Webinar Series

Designed for new graduates and those wishing to upskill in equine practice, this four-part webinar series covered key topics in equine veterinary practice.
The webinars took place on Wednesdays at 7 pm on the following dates: 8th October, 22nd October, 19th November, and 26th November 2025.
1. Interpreting Equine Blood Results
This webinar enhanced confidence in reading and interpreting equine blood test results. Participants reviewed normal reference ranges, recognised clinically relevant patterns, understood test limitations, and practised communicating results and next steps clearly to clients.
2. Colic: Medical & Surgical Management
This webinar built confidence in the assessment and management of equine colic. Attendees learned to classify colic types, perform structured field examinations, interpret diagnostic findings, initiate appropriate treatment, and make timely referral decisions while communicating effectively with clients.
3. Equine Wound Management
This webinar strengthened practical skills in equine wound management. Participants learned to assess and triage wounds, select appropriate treatment techniques, use antimicrobials responsibly, and recognise and manage common wound-healing complications.
4. Good Foundations for Equine Reproduction
This webinar provided a practical foundation in equine reproduction. Attendees explored the mare’s reproductive cycle, performed basic breeding soundness examinations, and identified common causes of reproductive inefficiency and how to avoid them.

The UCDVH Webinar Series took place on June 25th!
We were delighted to welcome back Monica Augusto (DMV MSc(Clin. Onc.) DipECVIM-CA MRCVS) as our guest speaker. Monica is one of our small animal internists and holds advanced certification in clinical oncology on top of her ECVIM diploma.
Her talk focused on the investigations of oral masses, aimed at improving early diagnosis and management of oral tumours in our companion animals.

The UCDVH Webinar Series took place on May 28th!
We celebrated our veterinary nurses and recognised their invaluable contributions to veterinary medicine. Education and ongoing professional development play a vital role in empowering veterinary nurses and promoting excellence in their field.
We were therefore delighted to welcome Alicia Reid (RVN BSc(Hons) VN CertVNECC) as our guest speaker. Alicia is one of our dedicated ICU nurses and holds advanced certification in emergency and critical care. She plays a key role in delivering nurse-led education to both undergraduate veterinary and veterinary nursing students, as well as to clinical staff.
Her talk focused on the latest updates to the RECOVER guidelines, aimed at improving cardiopulmonary resuscitation in veterinary practice.

We were delighted to welcome again our internal medicine specialist Dr Antoine Duclos to discuss once more about cats! Feline chronic enteropathies are different and cats like to do everything their own way. This webinar reviewed the latest relevant recommendation for investigating and treating feline chronic enteropathies!

Drs Nora Grenager (Equine IM Specialist) and Claudia Gilders (Equine IM Resident) introduced us to Equine Cardiology! This time, we discussed everything heartbit and rhythm related for our sport or grazing companions. Our speakers covered all the aspects of the heart diseases and available diagnostics and screening in horses!
