Alumni Mentors Needed for Online Mentoring
Informal online mentoring is available to new graduates of the School of Veterinary Medicine through the (opens in a new window)UCD Alumni Network, a closed community of fellow Alumni and students. Whilst many of our alumni are already actively involved in working with new and recent graduates on the Network, we are currently looking for additional alumni to get involved so that all graduates who would like to work with a mentor have the opportunity to do so.
Online mentoring is flexible and can be initiated/requested by new graduates at any time. The mentoring offered through the Network is not formally structured, and the level of interaction and support is agreed by the mentor and mentee.
Through the (opens in a new window)UCD Alumni Network platform, alumni who wish to volunteer as a mentor can communicate directly with new graduates allowing them to manage their own mentoring relationship. Recent graduates can build on their networking skills and reach out to alumni who have expressed an interest in mentoring on their UCD Alumni Network profile.
How to offer mentoring on the UCD Alumni Network:
- Register on the UCD Alumni Network here: (opens in a new window)https://ucdalumninetwork.com
- Complete your profile on the Network with as much information as possible
- Make sure that you have selected ‘Online mentoring & networking’ under ‘Offer Mentoring’ on your profile
- New graduates can then view your profile and ‘request mentoring’ if they are interested in working with you
- If a new graduate requests mentoring from you, you will receive a message through the platform to let you know and you can then respond to their message on the Network. You can message each other on the Network – you don’t have to exchange contact details
