Message from Professor Michael Doherty,
Dean & Head of School
Dear Colleagues,
Mí na Bealtaine, remarkable this year for a particularly luxuriant display of gold in the Irish hedgerows - the wonderful gorse, furze or whin bush as it’s known in Ulster, aiteann i nGaeilge; once a fodder, when its softer flowers and foliage were fed to cattle and a happy home for the delightful stonechat, an caislín cloch.
I am delighted as always to introduce our Alumni Newsletter and I would like to thank Dr Helen Graham, the School’s Communications Manager for all the work she does gathering the stories that allow us to keep our Alumni updated on life in the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine. In this issue, we are very pleased to include the personal reminiscences of the internationally renowned equine veterinarian Dr David Freeman.
Very best wishes / le gach dea-ghuí,
Michael
