What is the Structured Elective about?
This Structured Elective allows students to pursue training in the area of formal linguistics. It focuses on the structure of language as a system. It provides students with the opportunity to either take a combination of Syntax (the study of the structure of phrases in language) and Phonology (the study of the nature of sounds in language), or to concentrate specifically on either Syntax or Phonology. The modules allow students to develop either a broad or in-depth understanding of the key features of language structure.
Why should I take this Structured Elective?
This Structured Elective will be of great benefit in understanding the essential properties of language. This is very important as language plays a role in almost every aspect of life.
