UCD Student Counselling Service - Holiday Period Information

The UCD Student Counselling Service will be closed from 1pm on Monday, 23rd December 2024, and will reopen on Thursday, 2nd January 2025.

If you are in acute emotional distress, we advise contacting a GP or attending the Accident and Emergency Department. If you have a mental health emergency, please contact the emergency services: If you are on UCD Belfield campus, phone the UNICARE emergency line for assistance on 01 716 7999. If you are off campus dial 999 or 112 from anywhere in the Republic of Ireland.

When the new term begins on 20th January 2025, you will be able to complete the online self-referral form to register to meet a counsellor. Please check the website after this date for further updates.

We are committed to the safety and confidentiality of all students, and we do not use email communication to register students for counselling or to address urgent communication about their wellbeing. If you have been given an appointment outside of our opening hours and reception is closed, please take a seat outside reception and your counsellor will collect you at the time of your appointment. 

Location

  • UCD Student Health & Counselling Service is upstairs in the Student Centre (building 70 on the UCD Campus map).  It is located above the Student Union Office.

Parking

Visitors to the UCD Student Centre are advised to enter the campus from the Clonskeagh road side. If you enter from the Clonskeagh gate, off Wynsward Drive (adjacent to AIB Clonskeagh) the Student Centre is the second building on the left after the roundabout. There is a visitor car park near the roundabout and there is a further car park behind the chapel which can be seen after the Student Centre building.

Car parking in UCD is a mix of permit and visitor parking until 5pm. After 5pm almost all car parks are available for free. You should read the signs in each car park to enusre you are not parked in an incorrect zone.

Mental health supports available to students while we are closed:

  • There are a range of supports available provided by agencies supported by the Health Service Executive. You can access most of the supports without a referral.  Call the HSE Your MentalHealth Information Line on freephone 1800 111 888, any time day or night
