Sarah Healy takes Gold in the Women's 3000m Final in Apeldoorn
UCD Athletics enjoyed phenomenal successes at both National and European level this month, with a number of medal-winning performances from our athletes.
In Apeldoorn, Sarah Healy took the gold in the Women’s 3000m Final, claiming the European Championship title with a time of 8:52.86. While there were no medals claimed in the Men's events, Bori Akinola and Cian McPhillips also made their European debuts, both advancing to the the Men’s 60m and 800m Semi-Finals respectively.
UCD Alumni and former UCD Athletes Mark English and Sarah Lavin also did UCD and Ireland proud in Apeldoorn, with English earning a bronze medal win in the Men's 800m, while Lavin ran a season best of 7.92 in the 60m hurdles.
In Nicosia, Nicola Tuthill who won the first ever Irish gold medal in the European Throwing Cup, taking first place on the podium in the U23 hammer event with a mark of 69.74m.

There was further successes closer to home at the U23s Indoor Championships, with Renee Crotty taking home the gold in the Women's 800m Final with a time of 2:14.58, while Aisling Kelly took home the title in the sprint doubles, placing first in both the Women's 60m and 200m Finals, with times of 7.57 and 24.62 respectively. Hannah Murray also ran a personal best time of 56.10 in the Women's 400m, while in London, Darragh Murphy ran a personal best of 10.81 in the Men's 100m.
