Social Sciences Internship Programme
BSc Social Sciences students have the opportunity to gain career-related experience as part of their degree by undertaking a trimester-long internship during stage 3.
Information for Students
Students will have completed two years of their degree before undertaking the for-credit internship, and the placement will involve working outside UCD, typically on a full-time basis for 12-15 weeks. Students will not study any other modules during the trimester they undertake an internship.
Internship opportunities are based with a variety of organisations covering a range of sectors which reflect the breadth of the subjects studied by students on the degree, the skills developed during the first two years of study and the typical professional destinations of social sciences graduates. Students will have the opportunity to apply for internships sourced by UCD Social Sciences and may be offered interviews and positions by internship providers based on the strength of their applications. Alternatively, students may source their own internship opportunity with the approval of the Social Sciences Internship Manager, Cristin O'Gorman ((opens in a new window)(opens in a new window)socialsciencesinternships@ucd.ie).
