Statement about expectations for presence
In the autumn trimester all lectures and classroom-based teaching in SLCL will be delivered on campus, unless public health advice changes. In-line with University guidelines for trimester 1 penalties for non-attendance are suspended. However, attendance at, and engagement in modules is expected. Please see the welcome area of your Brightspace module site for full details of module delivery and what to do if you are unable to attend.
Information about students eligible for exemption from attending campus
The University recognises that some students will be unable to attend campus due to being unvaccinated on medical grounds AND at very high risk from COVID-19. As far as possible, these students will be facilitated to study at a distance.
Exemptions from attending campus for BA students must be approved at Programme level and students will be asked to submit supporting documentation to the Extenuating Circumstances Approvals Committee. Students who wish to notify of particular circumstances or seek additional support, will be directed to make an Extenuating Circumstances application which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Extenuating circumstances are defined as those which prevent students from meeting the requirements of their programme and which cause substantial absence (more than 10 working days) or significantly affect a student’s ability to study or complete assessments, or adversely affect performance in an assessment.
Please contact your programme office if you require further information:
