Hosting Researchers / Work Experience in UCD / Volunteers
School and units across the University may host visiting researchers, work experience students and volunteers either on a formal or informal basis. Not withstanding how the hosting of the person has been arranged, all persons hosted by the University must be afforded the same level of supervision and safety as UCD staff.
The UCD SIRC Office has developed a (opens in a new window)UCD Guide for Schools/ Units Hosting Researchers/ Persons on Work Experience/ Volunteer which outlines the hosts responsibilities towards such persons, including minors and requirements for both formal and informal arrangements.
In cases where a formal agreement forms part of the hosting arrangement, it should be approved by UCD Legal before signing. Any clarifications regarding insurance provisions within hosting agreements must be confirmed with the UCD SIRC Office.
In the absence of any formal agreement with a third party, a UCD developed standard (opens in a new window)visiting researcher / work experience agreement should be used, and such persons should be asked to sign.
Email (opens in a new window)sirc@ucd.ie with any queries relating to hosting arrangements, insurance requirements or to notify a work placement.
