The annual Science Awards event acknowledges the achievements of its students on the grounds of academic merit, contribution to the UCD Science community and excellence in their role as peer mentors.
The awards under the following categories are made following a nomination and review process and both staff and students are invited to nominate students in each of these categories:
Recognition of Student Achievements
Leadership Ability or Personal Achievement as shown through involvement in Science-based activities which help make the UCD Science Community a more exciting, enjoyable and engaged environment (e.g. committees, events, societies, clubs, etc.) or through courage, optimism and the determination to overcome great personal and emotional odds to achieve academic success.
Excellence in Mentoring
This award will honour Peer Mentors who go beyond what is required of them in their role (i.e. extra meetings, events, outings and high levels of individual support to mentees). This category is aimed at students who are in the UCD Peer Mentor Programme.
Nomination Process
Nominations can be submitted from Monday 6th January 2025 and will close on Friday 14th February 2025 at 5pm.
Following a review of the nominations, the Review Committee will contact the successful nominees who will be invited to attend the College of Science Awards Event in O’Reilly Hall on Saturday, 22nd March 2025.
