Dr John A. ‘Tony’ Scott studied physics at UCD, at BSc, MSc and PhD level. He co-founded the Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition with Fr Tom Burke in 1965.  Dr Scott served as Dean of Science from 1987 – 1993 and also set up the university’s first public affairs office. In 1989 he became UCD’s first Director of Public Affairs.  Dr Scott was awarded the Ulysses Medal, the highest honour that UCD can bestow, in 2012.
