Class of 2022 Graduation & Medal Awards
On Wednesday the 7st of September 2022, SBBS held a reception in the O'Brien Science Centre to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2022, as students from our five undergraduate programmes were conferred with their degrees that day.
Prof Wim Meijer, Head of School, opened the reception by congratulating the new graduates on their achievements and invited our new alumni to keep in touch with the school as they progress through their new career and study paths.
The reception included the awarding of medals by the Heads of Subjects to the top performing students in Stage 4 of each degree programme - Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Neuroscience and Pharmacology. The medal winners were as follows:
Jana Joha, winner of the Michael G Harrington Medal for Biochemistry, with outgoing Head of Biochemistry Assoc Prof Siobhán McClean
Dorian Dederko, winner of the Joy Carey Medal for Best Biochemistry Project, with outgoing Head of Biochemistry Assoc Prof Siobhán McClean
Kellie Horan, winner of the Genetics Medal, with Head of Genetics Assoc Prof Peadar Ó Gaora
Isabelle Daly, winner of The Hussey Award for Microbiology, with outgoing Head of Microbiology Dr Tadhg Ó'Cróinín
Ruth Colbert, winner of the Neuroscience medal, with outgoing Head of Neuroscience Assoc Prof Oliver Blacque
Ellen O' Neill, winner of the Regan Medal for Pharmacology, with Head of Pharmacology Assoc Prof Carmel Hensey
The Regan Medal for Pharmacology was presented by Mrs Veronica Regan, wife of the late Professor Ciarán Regan, SBBS Professor of Neuropharmacology
