CAO Student's Guide to UCD Residences

Accommodation applications for incoming 2025/26 CAO students are now open. Students must have applied to at least one UCD course via the CAO in order to be eligible for an accommodation application.

From April 2nd 2025

Accommodation applications for 2025/26 existing/continuing students are now open. You can make a booking application regardless of whether you have lived in UCD Residences before.

Prices for accommodation for 2025/26 are yet to be confirmed but may be subject to a 2% increase on current prices. The current prices can be viewed here: UCD 2025 - 2026 Accommodation Fees.

Please note that the prices for 25-26 are inclusive of a 2% increase and may be subject to adjustment prior to the start of the licence period should the rate of change of inflation be under 2% "

Fees and Payment 

The residence fees for the 2025/26 academic year can be viewed here: UCD 2025 - 2026 Accommodation Fees

International Applicants - 25/26

Study Abroad Autumn 2026:
  • Booking communications and instructions will be issued by email to students in early Summer 2025.
  • Bookings will open from early summer 2025.
  • Students can check-in from 28th August 2025.
  • Room offers will be made on a weekly basis.
Exchange students (Erasmus and non-EU Exchange) Autumn 2025:

Postgraduate students

International Applicants (From Outside the EU) - 2025/26

International Students (from outside the EU) who are applying directly to UCD, have a different application process to EU  based students. Students will receive detailed information, via email, on how to apply for UCD on-campus housing, in advance of bookings opening.

PhD Students 2025/26

Booking Application Information

PhD students will apply for campus accommodation via the (opens in a new window)new Residences Portal.

Booking Applications will open on 1st June 2025.

Please note that the offers will be issued on weekly basis, subject to availability. 

PhD Offers

The University has allocated a set number of beds on the Belfield campus for the forthcoming academic year 2025/26 for incoming  stage 1 PhD students. 

Please note that in the case that all PhD rooms have been fully allocated, a room in an alternative accommodation may be offered instead.

PhD Package

UCD Residences will make a limited number of apartments in the UCD Village available for PhD students at a subsidised rate ( the 'standard ensuite' bedroom type rate). Please see UCD 2025 - 2026 Accommodation Fees for more information. Please note that the prices for 25-26 are inclusive of a 2% increase and may be subject to adjustment prior to the start of the licence period should the rate of change of inflation be under 2% "

The refundable booking deposit is €750.

Duration of Stay

UCD Residences will offer incoming PhD students a 2 or 3 trimester stay - a 3 trimester stay will very likely be subject to a summer room move.

Eligibility

On-Campus Accommodation for Incoming Students who have entered through the HEAR Pathway

UCD Residences offers a variety of room options across several residence villages on the Belfield and Blackrock campuses.


Prices vary depending on the facilities offered in each of the residences, for example private bathroom or shared bathroom options, but all bedrooms are single occupancy, i.e. one person per bedroom.


"Apartment - Shared Bathroom" accommodation options are available on the Belfield campus and are priced at the starting point of room rates. These apartments consist of four bedrooms and two bathrooms.


Students entering UCD through the HEAR pathway are offered these "Apartment - Shared Bathroom" rooms as a first option. Priority is given to first year students.

Please note there is no discounted rate for students entering through the HEAR pathway so students and families should be aware of the fees before accepting a room.

On-Campus Accommodation for Students with Physical Disabilities 

There are a limited number of wheelchair accessible rooms on campus, with priority always offered to students with a physical disability, who are Blind/Visually Impaired, or who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing, who require the adapted features of these rooms. Incoming students who wish to apply for these rooms must register with Access and Lifelong Learning by emailing (opens in a new window)disability@ucd.ie.

Accessible rooms are available to incoming, continuing, postgraduate students and single trimester students. If you are an international student who requires a wheelchair accessible room please contact UCD Global and the residence room booking team at (opens in a new window)residences@ucd.ie

Please note, if you require a full time Personal Assistant (PA) who needs to stay in Residences overnight, the student you book a separate room for your PA. Please email the residence room booking team ((opens in a new window)residences@ucd.ie) who will assist you to book a wheelchair accessible room and an adjoining room for your PA.

If you use a Service Dog, there are some single occupancy studio apartments that students with Service Dogs can book. Students who wish to attend University College Dublin accompanied by their Service Dog must contact UCD Access & Lifelong Learning, prior to accepting their offer, to discuss their individual needs and to ensure that any necessary supports can be made available to them and their Service Dog. Please note that students residing in accessible rooms are not offered any reduction in fees and do not receive any additional supervision or support from UCD Residences.

Residence Scholarship Scheme Students

UCD Residences provides accommodation for residence scholarship schemes across all locations consisting of self-catering apartments, halls of residence and catered accommodation which includes meals in the price. Specially adapted facilities are provided for students with disabilities.

UCD Residence Scholarship Schemes are run by UCD Residences for several categories including Sports, Ad Astra and Gaeltacht UCD (UCD Global Centre for Irish Language and Culture). If you have applied to any of the residence scholarship schemes successfully you will be marked on the student information system accordingly and offered the relevant accommodation options subject to availability.

  • Students will be able to choose available accommodation in a wider range of locations than in previous years allowing for a wider range of price and facilities.
  • The room booking system allows students to choose which room they want and will provide basic information on the profile of students already booked into an apartment (e.g. undergraduate, postgraduate, male, female). 
  • Some schemes such as the Gaeltacht UCD have specific rooms reserved for their scholars.
