Can Ireland become an Energy Superpower?

Thanks to Ireland's innovation in offshore energy networks and grid technology, we are set to be a global leader in renewable energy generation and distribution. Learn how UCD researchers are paving the way in the Energy Transition...

The Energy Transition

Through UCD Energy Institute flagship programmes such as ESIPP and NexSys, multidisciplinary researchers are working collaboratively with national and international partners towards net zero carbon, modernised integrated energy systems, while empowering citizens through education, innovation and digitalisation.

ESIPP Findings

The research outputs from Energy Systems Integration Partnership Programme (ESIPP) present key findings from the mulitdisciplinary team's research (2015-2022) around the energy transition. The papers give insights into topics such as Ireland’s offshore wind potential, energy optimisation in buildings, wastewater management, data centre efficiency, approaches to a just transition, and the need for a national hydrogen strategy. Following on from ESIPP, the next phase is NexSys (Next Generation Energy Systems).
