Payment

Payment Information

What is the rate of pay for invigilation work?

Invigilation rates are outlined in your offer email and may vary depending on your role. Typical rates are:

  • Standard Invigilator and Exam Helper: €16.14 per hour

  • Scribe (Newman Exam Centre Only): €22.14 per hour

When will I be paid?

You will be paid after you have completed your invigilation work. Payment is only made if all required steps are followed, such as submitting your hours on time and ensuring they are approved.

Unijobs will provide clear information on payment deadlines and dates for each exam session.

Where will my pay be received?

Your pay will be received into the Irish bank account you provide when setting up your payroll details. It is important to keep your bank details up to date to avoid payment delays.

What happens to my pay if I don’t have a PPS Number?

If you have not previously worked in Ireland, it is your responsibility to register your employment with Revenue through (opens in a new window)MyAccount. Unijobs cannot process payment for anyone without a PPS Number.

We strongly advise you to begin the PPS application process as soon as possible. If your PPS Number is issued after the normal payment date, your payment can still be processed, but only at a later date.

How will I be paid?

All UCD Assessment invigilators are paid through Unijobs, UCD’s payroll partner.

Once you receive your assigned invigilation hours, you must complete the following forms immediately. Do not wait until the exam session begins:

When should I register with Unijobs?

You should register with Unijobs as soon as you are offered an invigilation position. The registration process can take up to two weeks, so starting promptly will help ensure you are set up and ready to work in time. To assist you, please read the short registration guide .

I registered with Unijobs previously. Do I need to register again?

No. You only need to register with Unijobs once. If you have already completed registration with them, even for a position that is not invigilation, you do not need to register again.

What if I have changed my bank details?

If your bank details have changed since you were last paid by Unijobs, you must update them to avoid payment delays.

To do this, complete the (opens in a new window)Unijobs Bank Details Form and email (opens in a new window)education@unijobs.ie to let them know you want to change your bank details.

Who approves my hours?

Your hours are reviewed and approved by the UCD Assessment Exams Office or your designated supervisor before being processed for payment.

What should I do if my hours are not approved?

If the hours you submit do not match the records held by the UCD Assessment Exams Office, your submission will be rejected. In this case, your payment will be adjusted to reflect the official records. For help with submitting your hours, please read this guide.

What happens next after completing the forms?

After you complete the necessary forms, Unijobs will contact you with further details about your registration and payment.

What should I know about tax and my Unijobs payment?

Unijobs recommends managing your tax credits via (opens in a new window)Revenue’s MyAccount service.

If you split your tax credits across more than one job, one job may be taxed on a Week 1 basis, meaning tax is calculated on each payslip rather than your annual income. More information can be found on the
(opens in a new window)Revenue: Week 1 Basis webpage.

Unijobs also recommends completing a PAYE Income Tax Return at the end of the tax year to check if you are due a refund.

What if I have questions about my payment?

For all payroll-related questions, please contact Unijobs directly:
