Connecting the Dots – Kathryn Oliver

At the Museum of Literature Ireland, in May 2025, Professor Kathryn Oliver explored the pros and cons of different approaches to knowledge exchange, and the value of (opens in a new window)Areas of Research Interest to coordinate activity at the intersection of policy and research.

Linking Research and Policy – Nick Bibby

In November 2024, Nick Bibby shared his experiences of setting up and running the (opens in a new window)Scottish Policy and Research Exchange (SPRE), reflecting on the opportunities and pitfalls of leading a national research and policy engagement organisation. 

Strategic Scaffolding – Professor Matt Flinders

In this seminar, Professor Flinders explored the role of "strategic scaffolding" in providing clear docking points between research and policy. In particular, he discussed how policy-related research infrastructure has evolved rapidly in the UK in recent years, as part of a broader shift towards expanding the nature of the research community and redefining the notion of research excellence.
