Seminar and Workshop Topic

Narrative medicine offers a powerful framework for exploring the complex interplay between personal experience and professional identity in clinical practice. This workshop applies a narrative medicine lens to the stories and experiences of women physicians navigating family planning, pregnancy, and early parenthood. Through reflective analysis and discussion, participants will examine how these narratives reveal tensions between the culture of medicine and the lived realities of female practitioners. By centring these experiences, the workshop aims to foster deeper understanding of the tensions of professional and personal wellbeing. Ultimately, narrative medicine is positioned as a tool for bridging the persistent divide between institutional expectations and the personal dimensions of care and caregiving.
