Renowned Columbia University Assoc. Prof. Sabrina Opiola McCauley's visits UCD

On the 18th and 19th March, we hosted a visit from
(opens in a new window)Assoc Prof SabrinaOpiolaMcCauley, Director of the Paediatric Nurse Practitioner Programme at Columbia University. Assoc Prof McCauley met with members of the Children's Team and SNMHS Faculty over a networking breakfast. A site visit to Children's Health Ireland followed, where a meeting with ANPs Niamh Maguire and Derek Deeley, as well as Warren O'Brien, Nurse Practice Development. After a tour of the Cardiac and Critical Care units, a drive by of the New Children's Hospital followed, scheduled to open in Spring 2026.

OpiolaMcCauley's second day started with a visit to the newly refurbished Clinical Skills Labs, to participate in case scenario simulations with students undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Children's Critical Care Nursing, and Children's Cardiac Care. A schedule of meetings with key SNMHS faculty, including Mr Jame Hayes School Director, Assoc. Prof. Suja Somanadhan, Associate Dean for Global Engagement, Assoc. Prof. Mary Ryder, Programme Director MSc in Nursing (Advanced Practice), and Dr Ann Donohoe, Associate Dean for Taught Graduate Studies.
