MMus Music & Culture Scholarship Opportunity
The School of Music at University College Dublin is delighted to announce six scholarships for our 2025/26 MMus in Music and Culture students. Those awarded will be given a partial fee waiver for the programme. There are two types of awards available:
- Non-EU students will receive a fee waiver of €5,000
- EU students (including Ireland) will receive a fee waiver of €2,000
Two fee scholarships will be available in each of the three strands of specialisation covered in the course:
- The Harry White Scholarships in Historical Musicology, named in honour of UCD’s longstanding Chair of Music.
- The School of Music Scholarships in Ethnomusicology.
- The School of Music Scholarships in Composition and Practice-Based Research.

Application Process
In order to be eligible for these fee waiver scholarships, applicants should submit their application to UCD’s MMus programme before Monday 9th June 2025. There is no separate application process for these scholarships. All applicants who receive an offer or conditional offer for the MMus in Music and Culture by the deadline will be automatically considered. Candidates will be notified of the results of the scholarship competition by Friday 20th June.
The fee waiver scholarship will be awarded by a committee of School of Music faculty. These merit awards will be based on academic performance in previous studies. Decisions made by the committee are final.
Terms and Conditions:
- Once scholarship awards are issued, students must accept this offer within two weeks of the notification being distributed. It is the student’s responsibility to formally accept the scholarship offer; a non-response will be considered as declining the offer.
- In order to be eligible to be considered for this scholarship, applicants must have 'Application complete', ‘Offer’ or ‘Accept’ (or "Conditional Offer" or "Conditional Accept") status associated with their application by the application deadline.
- Decisions will be made by the Scholarship Committee, and all decisions are final.
- The issued scholarship will be deducted from the student’s University fee account.
- Continuous enrollment and attendance are required to retain a scholarship award.
- Successful applicants must attend the programme in person. Remote attendance is not permitted.
- A student who withdraws, cancels or becomes inactive, is suspended, or dismissed from the University will lose their scholarship eligibility.
- A student who declines an initial offer of admission and accompanying scholarship offer will not retain their scholarship offer if they reapply at a later date.
- Any additional fees accrued in the event of a repeated module will not be covered by the waiver.
