Looking back, my time in UCD was something of a pivotal time for me as it was from here that I decided to pursue a career in performance. I was lucky enough to be a member of the UCD Choral Scholars, a regular soloist for the annual UCD Baroque Choir concerts under Prof. Harry White singing Bach cantatas and masses too. I also had the pleasure of playing violin in the then newly formed UCD Orchestra.
Since leaving, I completed a Masters in Performance in the DIT Conservatory of Music and became one of Opera Theatre Company’s Young Associate Artists that same year. I have just returned to Ireland after 10 years in the UK working as an
opera singer. I have had the pleasure of working regularly in top international houses such as the Glyndebourne Opera Festival, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden and our own Wexford Opera Festival. I have also sung roles at the Iford
Opera Festival, Tokyo’s New National Theatre and Ireland’s Opera Theatre Company. In 2011 I was the recipient of the Gerard Arnold Award at the Wexford Opera Festival for my performance as Dinah in Bernstein’s opera Trouble in Tahiti.
I am now based in Dublin with regular trips to the UK for auditions, coachings and singing work but am enjoying being home teaching music, singing and violin. My time studying music in UCD was, as well as being a very enjoyable part of
college, hugely beneficial for the direction my career took afterwards.
