This Professional Certificate is open to all medicine graduates from a recognised home/EU or overseas institution looking to develop a comprehensive knowledge of dermatological conditions.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • This is a 10-credit professional certificate (Level 9 NFQ), delivered entirely online via a webinar-based interactive lecture schedule.
  • This course is designed to accommodate busy health care providers. The four lectures blocks delivered by 25 of Ireland's top Specialist Registered Consultant Dermatologists will cover common dermatological conditions including; neutrophilic dermatoses, chronic pruritus/skin of the elderly, vasculitis, skin of colour, nurse treatments (delivered by a clinic nurse specialist in dermatology) and cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease.

TEACHING AND LEARNING

  • Participants will develop a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of common dermatological diseases seen in primary care. There will be emphasis on an understanding of the impact of dermatological conditions, up-to-date management and referral pathways. The course will be delivered via a live webinar-based interactive learning platform.
  • Clinical image based vignettes will be made available at least once a month, encouraging self-directed learning and a blended learning approach.
  • At the end of the course there will be an optional hospital on-site (Dublin, Ireland), patient-based clinical session for a maximum of 30 participants (selected on a first-come-first-served basis) where real life patients with common dermatology conditions are present. This is not assessed and therefore non-credit bearing.

Enrolled students will have to meet the minimum IT requirements for Zoom as well as ensuring they have prepared their laptop/PC before taking an online assessment. Students will also need an integrated webcam and microphone on the device they will be using to take the exam for e-proctoring purposes.
