Mission
The Observatory of Masculinities is a space for critical reflection, research, and dialogue on men and masculinities through intersectional and decolonial lenses. We aim to cultivate inclusive spaces in a community of learners where knowledge is co-created. Our goal is to build bridges between scholars, students, activists, artists, and educators while driving impactful research and interventions. We are committed to advancing human rights and social justice and decentering the production of knowledge about men and masculinities in a globalised and increasingly polarised world.
To achieve this mission, we aim to:
- Promote transdisciplinary spaces for reflection and dialogue on men and masculinities;
- Support collaborations between scholars, activists, artists, and educators working on masculinities;
- Engage men in conversation on masculinities and equality;
- Disseminate research, methodologies and other initiatives related to men and masculinities;
- Foster transdisciplinary, decolonial, and inclusive dialogue that examines how masculinities are shaped by intersecting social, cultural, and structural frameworks, including social class, age, sexual orientation, disability, race, and ethnicity.
