Broaden your skills by working with PhD candidates and Masters students from different disciplines, and work on real-world problems facing industry, governments and social sectors or organisations. UCD Innovation Academy offers students a dynamic, multidisciplinary learning environment where they can explore creative and entrepreneurial thinking, customer-focused design methodology, and work on real-world challenges that complement their core discipline.

Eligibility

Who can take this module? 

These modules are open to current UCD PhD Candidates from any discipline. To register you must have permission from your PhD Supervisor. UCD Master students in eligible programmes may also register for the 5 ECTS Creative Thinking and Innovation Module.

What should I expect from the Innovation Academy graduate modules? 

Our modules combine international best practices with real-world insights from a highly experienced team of researchers. Each module is designed to equip participants with the opportunity to develop new skills or enhance existing skills that are in high demand across all sectors. Enrolment on an Innovation Academy module means a commitment to active participation and engagement, which necessitates attendance at all scheduled classes. Please note that auditing Innovation Academy modules is not possible.

How do I register for a UCD Innovation Academy module? 

A Research or Masters Programme student should contact their School Office/Graduate School for a module registration form and complete it with the module information and submit it to that same School Office/Graduate School. UCD Innovation Academy modules are open for all research students so you do not need to get a signature from the module co-ordinator.

What is the assessment for the Innovation Academy modules? 

You will be assessed based on your participation and engagement with the module as well as some prescribed learning and reflective assignments throughout the module. There are no exams.
