Ideas to Impact Since 2003
NovaUCD officially opened in October 2003 and in 2023 NovaUCD celebrated its 20th anniversary with the launch of a report entitled NovaUCD Ideas to Impact Since 2003.
As outlined in the Report during the 20-year period (2003-2023) UCD provided support to 550+ companies and early-stage ventures through the services and supports provided across UCD, through NovaUCD, and through business support programmes run and managed by NovaUCD.
In addition the NovaUCD entrepreneurial community has raised €1.3+ billion in equity funding and created thousands of jobs.
Seventy new UCD spin-out companies were also incorporated; 1,165+ inventions were disclosed by UCD researchers; 370+ priority patent applications were filed and 320+ licensing deals were concluded with a range of indigenous and international businesses. In addition over 1,300 research agreements have been finalised with industry since 2014.
Since it was established in 2017 (and in the period up to 2023) ConsultUCD, UCD’s managed consultancy service, undertook 220+ consultancy projects valued at over €2.5 million.
