Position summary:
The School of Information & Communication Studies is seeking to appoint a temporary Teaching Fellow to cover maternity leave to fulfil teaching needs in our school.
The appointee will undertake support for and supervision of Masters programme summer modules and projects on the MSc in Human Computer Interaction and MSc in Communication and Media programmes such as HCI Design Project and Media Management Project. The Teaching Fellow will also contribute to development of support materials including a school database of clients and HCI Design sites and digital resources for documenting project work on these modules as well as assisting in syllabus development for these modules.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
o Teach and support students on summer project modules for programmes in ICS curriculum to include – HCI Design Project and Media Management Project - and to design new syllabus materials for further programme expansion as directed.
o Workshop and project meeting attendance in person according to the set timetable
o Design, Preparation and grading of assessments to include student examinations and delivery of feedback
o Supervision of projects
o Design, preparation of resources for documenting student work
o Undertake administrative duties and student communication as required
o Other responsibilities as assigned by Head of School
Fixed Salary: €43,026 Per Annum

Mandatory:
Experience and Qualifications
• An MSc in Human Computer Interaction/Communication & Media studies or similar with an interdisciplinary and digital media design focus
• Experience in teaching support for postgraduate modules
• Good familiarity with digital media production, virtual learning environments and student assessment systems
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to engage with students
• Candidates must demonstrate an awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion agenda.
Desirable:
• A PhD in Human Computer Interaction / Communication & Media studies or similar with an interdisciplinary and digital media design focus
• Strong capacity to supervise postgraduate student work
• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Evidence of positive feedback on prior teaching / student engagement experience.
