The UCD School of Information and Communication Studies is seeking expressions of interest from professional colleagues who may be interested in teaching a module on the MLIS & GradDip LIS programmes during the academic year 2024-2025.
We currently have openings for two modules:
IS40370 Management for Information Professionals. The module covers topics including, but not limited to, leadership skills and advocacy, strategic thinking and evaluation, financial management, people management, public engagement and outreach.
IS41580 Professional topics in LIS: Practice from the Field. This new module explores current and emerging topics in LIS. Taught by librarians/information professionals working in the field, the module will support students as they prepare to transition to the workplace, by engaging meaningfully with critical subjects and working professionals. Professional colleagues who may be interested in potentially teaching this module can propose a topic of current interest in the LIS workplace, as well as a draft schedule of weekly sub-topics spanning the 12-week teaching term. Examples may include topics such as health information/health sciences librarianship, legal information, AI in the public library, children in the school and public library, etc. We are open to module suggestions from colleagues in any LIS sector. The module will run during the Spring trimester, with classes beginning near the end of January 2025.
For expressions of interest, and further queries, please email (opens in a new window)lis@ucd.ie by May 31st, 2024.
