External Sources of Funding

The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Programme is an established national initiative, funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, and managed by Research Ireland. The programme will now be open to new entrants to a Master’s or PhD programme or to registered students in the first year of the degree for which they are seeking funding (Please refer to the eligible first date of registration stated in the Call Document), aligning with a full-degree funding model.

The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) programme supports high-calibre international students who wish to study at NFQ levels 9 or 10 (master’s, postgraduate diploma or PhD) in Ireland. (opens in a new window)Click here for more information and to apply

The 2026 call will open on 29 January 2026.

The BSHS is very pleased to announce a competition for up to 3 bursaries of £4,000 each to support students taking a Master’s degree in the history of science, technology or medicine. This round of awards will be available to those who have been accepted on a Master’s programme.

Applicants must have a confirmed place on a Master’s programme in the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland.
