Free 12-Week Stop Smoking Programme
On Campus in UCD Belfield
Healthy UCD, in partnership with the HSE and UCD Student Health, are delighted to announce that a Free 12-Week Stop Smoking Programme started on the Belfield Campus on Thursday February 13th. The programme was open to ALL on campus - students and staff - and is being delivered in the UCD Village, finishing in May 2025.
What you need to know:
- Appointments were offered from 9am-3pm every Thursday
- Appointments are 1:1 with the HSE Stop Smoking Advisor - the initial appointment was 1hr and follow-ups were 30 minutes
- Free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) was provided
- Support was also provided to help people stop vaping (*note: NRT was not provided in this case)
What's involved?
The Stop Smoking Advisor helps you make a QUIT plan and together you discuss:
- Your current smoking habits
- NRT
- Your concerns about quitting
- Setting a QUIT date
- How to cope with cravings and withdrawal symptoms
You also have the opportunity to test your carbon monoxide levels at each appointment to track your progress.
More information on the QUIT programme can be found (opens in a new window)here.
