Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Mission Awards

The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital honors it’s mission through a variety of internal and external awards that celebrate compassion, excellence, and service in healthcare.

Ms Suzanne Dempsey RN Director of Quality Assurance and Organisational Design MMUH) and Dolores Heery RN, Director of Mission at MMUH organised a fantastic award ceremony. Mr David Begg, Outgoing Chair MMUH Board, spoke of the Mater’s ethos.

Prof Timothy Lynch attended the awards ceremony and spoke to his experience both as a physician and a recent patient at MMUH.  The care that he received at MMUH was outstanding mainly due to the excellent MMUH staff – doctors, nurses, HSCPs, catering, porter, housekeeping, management and administration.

Awards on the day included:

Internal Awards & Recognition

  • Compassion Awards
    Public and staff-nominated awards recognizing staff who go above and beyond in supporting patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Mater Mission Awards
    Presented during Mission Awareness Week to staff who embody the hospital’s core values and dedication to patient care.  The MMUH Liaison Psychiatry Service won the team wared this year. Well done.
  • Nursing Excellence Awards
    Includes the Margaret Harold Nurse Leader of the Year, Catherine McAuley Operating Nurse of the Year, and Preceptor of the Year, recognizing outstanding contributions within the Nursing Department.

External Recognition & Awards

  • Support During the COVID-19 Pandemic
    External contributors, such as the Jones Engineering Maintenance Team, were honored with commemorative medals and letters from the President of Ireland for exceptional pandemic support.
  • Academic Partnerships
    • UCD School of Physiotherapy Award: A commemorative medal funded by the hospital for a student demonstrating clinical excellence.
    • Sr. Margherita Rock Bursary Scholarship: Awarded to UCD Radiography student Kevin Ginesi in recognition of his academic journey.
