Assistant Professor Aoife Whelan

Director, UCD Centre for Global Irish Studies

I am a lecturer in Modern Irish and Irish Studies in the UCD School of Irish, Celtic Studies and Folklore. I am a UCD graduate and was awarded my BA degree (Modern Irish and History), MA in Modern Irish and PhD from this university. I am the Director of the UCD Centre for Global Irish Studies.

Dr Connor McCabe

Ad Astra Fellow & Lecturer, Irish Studies

I am a phonetician and linguist specialising in Modern Irish. I previously studied linguistics at the University of Cambridge (2014-2018) and completed a PhD at Trinity College, Dublin (2018-2022) with a thesis examining phrasal and lexical prominence in Munster Irish varieties. Before coming to UCD in 2024, I worked as a postdoctoral Research Fellow with the ABAIR Project at Trinity College (2022-2023). Within the School of Irish, Celtic Studies & Folklore, I am a Lecturer in Irish Studies.
