FAQs

Please read for details about UCD's accessibility services and the support we offer on our (opens in a new window)Inclusive Mobility EU profile.

All students with a disability or significant ongoing illness in UCD have the opportunity to receive relevant and reasonable support. These supports may include academic support such as awareness support for your lecturers and/or exam support such as extra time for exams (10 minutes per hour). To receive these supports students are invited to complete a short meeting called Needs Assessment with UCD Access & Lifelong Learning. Learn more about UCD's Disability Support.

Your access to different subjects at UCD depends on the Erasmus+/Exchange agreement your home university has with UCD. Please confirm if the subject you wish to study is covered by the agreement with your home university before looking at individual modules.

Modules and Credits

Places in modules at UCD are not guaranteed. Moreover, there are certain restrictions on specific subject areas (such as Health and Agricultural Sciences, Education, Psychology, Business, Law, English Literature, History and Master level classes) as well as certain types of modules (e.g. some research and internship modules). For further information, consult UCD Module Information guide for incoming Erasmus and non-EU Exchange students 2025/26.

Make sure to work alongside your home university when researching modules to ensure that you can receive credits for your module choices from your home university. Additionally, please have a back-up option for each module on your ideal list in case a module is not available.

Additionally, UCD offers a number of Irish Studies modules that are directed at international students and are popular amongst our incoming exchange students from all study backgrounds.

Accommodation on campus is limited and not guaranteed. Accommodation on campus is administered by UCD Residences and students that meet the nomination and application deadlines get a chance to apply.

Students who do not secure a room on campus, or who simply prefer to live off-campus, you can visit our off-campus accommodation page for advice.

Please contact UCD Global directly to confirm your expected arrival date on campus. Orientation will take place one week before classes start, in September (for the Autumn trimester) and in January (for the Spring trimester).

While Orientation events are not mandatory, they are highly recommended! You must prioritise events from the schedules for Erasmus+ and exchange students. If there are academic advisories planned for your specific cohort, you must also attend these.

Testimonials

"My best experience at UCD has been participating in the various student societies and clubs. These activities have allowed me to meet people from all over the world, build lasting friendships, and develop skills outside the classroom. One memorable experience was joining the UCD International Student Society where I had the opportunity to work on projects with students from diverse backgrounds and learn about different business practices. Additionally, exploring Dublin and other parts of Ireland, with its breathtaking scenery and rich history, has been incredibly enriching" -  Hellen,  non-EU exchange student from Malaysia

"My top tip for exchange students coming to UCD is to get involved in campus life as much as possible. Join clubs and societies that interest you, attend events, and don't hesitate to step out of your comfort zone. This will help you make friends, build a support network, and make the most of your time in Ireland. Also, take the time to explore Dublin and the rest of Ireland; there's so much to see and experience. Lastly, stay organized and seek help if you need it—UCD has excellent support services for international students, so make sure to use them if you ever feel overwhelmed."
