Veteran Affairs (VA) Benefits

University College Dublin (UCD) is an approved institution under the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefit programs. However, each individual academic program must also be approved by the VA before we can certify a student’s enrolment for benefits.

Eligible students should first visit the (opens in a new window)US Department of Veterans Affairs website and apply for benefits.

UCD will need to confirm your attendance before your benefits will be released. This confirmation is sent via VAF 22-1999 form.

Yes, University College Dublin (UCD) is an approved institution under the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) education benefit programs.

However, please note that not all programs are approved and the approval request can take several weeks.

To find out if your specific UCD programme is currently eligible:

  1. Visit the (opens in a new window)VA’s WEAMS Institution Search Tool

  2. Click on the Country tab.

  3. Scroll through the list and select Ireland, then click Submit.

  4. From the list of institutions, select University College Dublin.

  5. On UCD's profile page:

    • Click on Programs.

    • Then click Institution of Higher Learning.

You will now see a list of all UCD programs that are currently approved for VA education benefits.

Yes. If your program isn’t currently listed as approved, UCD can submit an application to the VA for consideration.

UCD will need to confirm your attendance before your benefits will be released. This confirmation is sent via the VAF 22-1999 form.

We do not determine the amount of benefits you receive, the VA makes that decision after reviewing our certification.

Yes, UCD currently accepts post-9/11 GI Bill Funding. If you are interested in using this or VA Benefits, please first visit the (opens in a new window)US Department of Veterans Affairs website and apply for benefits and confirm whether the programme you intend to study is eligible.

If your programme is not eligible, we may be able to apply for approval; however, this process can take several months, so let us know as soon as possible. If your programme is approved and you have provided your certificate of benefits, UCD will need to confirm your attendance before your benefits will be released.
