We are proud to announce that Dr Boróka Bó, an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the UCD School of Sociology and member of the Geary Institute for Public Policy, has been awarded funding from the CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars. Since 2016, via powerful, interdisciplinary engagement, the CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholars program has supported leadership development opportunities and championed innovative ideas, enabling early-career academics to aim for global impact.

Dr. Bó is one of 12 promising research experts from around the world selected for the prestigious program's tenth anniversary cohort, 2025-2027. The Scholars will each join a CIFAR research program, where they will work as equals in an international and interdisciplinary network of some of the world's finest researchers to answer a basic research question.

“As we celebrate a decade of the program, it is inspiring to see how far this next-gen initiative has come in supporting early-career researchers on their academic pathways,” says CIFAR President & CEO Stephen Toope.

“I am honoured to welcome and congratulate the latest cohort of Global Scholars to our research community, and look forward to the bold ideas, discoveries and collaborations they’ll help spark at CIFAR.”

Dr Bó specifically received the ‘CIFAR Azrieli Global Scholar in CIFAR’s Innovation, Equity & The Future of Prosperity program’ award, which will be administered by the Geary Institute with Emma Barron as project manager. The award is CAN$ 100,000.

Sincere congratulations to Dr Bó for securing this outstanding award!
