"Trade Policies in the Trump Administration"
President Donald Trump promised to handle international trade policy differently than his predecessors, and he certainly has. His actions with regard to major United States trade agreements have reversed the direction of US trade liberalization. His actual and threatened tariffs on products of many countries have disrupted trade flows and international supply chains. Further, his threat of tariffs against China may have brought us to the brink of a trade war, a possibility that he seems to relish. This talk will review these actions and attempt to assess their implications for the United States, its major trading partners, and the world trading system.
This is a general talk for a non-specialist audience. All are welcome! For further information, contact Prof. Ron Davies (opens in a new window)ronald.davies@ucd.ie
