Animal Welfare Advocacy

Animal Welfare Advocacy, part of the Institute's Environment and Democracy Dublin city centre seminar series, will explore the role, impact and capacity building needs of animal welfare advocacy in Ireland, and explore the contrasting opinions of the status of animal welfare in the state.

We host 70+ events each year, from public lectures, panel discussions and workshops to our weekly coffee morning research talks and spring campus walks. Coffee mornings

Running since 2017, our Thursday coffee mornings are a central part of the life of the Institute. Join us each week during the academic term to hear short informal talks on new environmental, climate and sustainability research and initiatives, from UCD and beyond.

The talks are hosted in the Earth Institute kitchen on the fourth floor of the UCD Science Centre over coffee and cake and are broadcast live on Zoom.

Environment and Democracy seminar series

This lunchtime seminar series in Dublin city centre explores topical environmental, climate and sustainability issues and their intersection with policy.

Our 2024 series focused on issues including the new EU Nature Restoration Law, trust in environmental expertise, challenges facing the Irish dairy sector and community impacts of coastal change.
