Rohit works on piecewise-smooth(PWS) dynamical systems where non-smoothness is inherent either from boundary conditions or via discrete mappings at predefined constraints. PWS systems are used to develop phenomenological and low-fidelity models to represent mechanical systems like impact oscillators, and friction models which often show behaviours like discontinuity-induced bifurcation unseen in typical smooth systems. He works on developing analytical and numerical techniques which can determine the long-time behaviour of such systems.
