Bond Group

The Bond Group uses systems biology approaches to investigate the molecular pathogenesis of paediatric leukaemia, with a particular focus on epigenetic processes. The ultimate hope is to find more precise and effective cures for children and adolescents with blood cancers.

About the Group

The Bond Group uses systems biology approaches to investigate the molecular drivers of paediatric blood cancers, with a particular focus on epigenetics and network biology.


What we do:

Decades of research have enabled enormous advances in the treatment of children and adolescents with leukaemia, but there is still much room for improvement.

Thanks to modern high-throughput technologies like genomics, we now know more about the molecular landscape of blood cancers than ever before. However, analysing these complex data can be challenging, and needs close collaboration between clinicians, biologists, and computational scientists.

To address this, our group comprises expertise in leukaemia biology, medicine, bioinformatics, and computational research. We are co-located at the Irish National Children’s Cancer Service at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin and collaborate closely with international leukaemia research efforts across Europe. Working together, we aim to tackle the most pressing problems in paediatric blood cancer, and to find more precise and effective treatments for children and adolescents with these diseases.
