The teams at Systems Biology Ireland (SBI) and the Quantitative Bioscience Institute (QBI) at the University of California, San Francisco, are delighted to announce the 2nd QBI/SBI Symposium on Molecular Networks of Cancer & Other Diseases, to be held in person at University College Dublin from 16 – 18 October, 2023. Organised by Prof. Walter Kolch (SBI) and Prof. Nevan Krogan (QBI), this free meeting is designed for the health-related research community to explore new collaborations and funding opportunities between the US and Ireland.
Featuring keynote talks from renowned scientists Kevan Shokat, Boris Kholodenko, Aedin Culhane and Erkut Borazanci, the symposium has a total of 27 speakers from the USA, Ireland, and beyond. The event will take place in person at O’Reilly Hall on the University College Dublin campus.
“We have been planning this event with QBI since 2019 and are very excited to be finally hosting it here in Dublin this October,” said Walter Kolch. “Nowhere else in Ireland this year will you see such a diverse and knowledgeable collection of experts coming together to discuss advances in the field. We hope this meeting will lead to many fruitful collaborations between healthcare researchers in Ireland and the USA.”
The symposium comes off the back of a 5 year MOU between University College Dublin and the University of California, San Francisco.
Nevan Krogan said, “There is such great synergy between scientists at SBI and QBI, especially in the worlds of systems biology and cancer research. I’m incredibly excited that we will be bringing together in person scientists from both places in Dublin, as I believe this event will have a profound impact on our understanding of cancer. Also, I think it will be a lot of fun!”
The QBI/SBI Symposium on Molecular Networks of Cancer and Other Diseases is free of charge, but spaces are limited and early registration is encouraged. There are five thematic sessions scheduled over the course of three days, and there will also be a dinner and networking event at the iconic Guinness Storehouse on Tuesday, 17 October. Please note that the Guinness event is limited to the first 100 participants to register.
