The Future is Now: AI, ethics and you
On 12 November 2024, to mark Science Week, a panel discussion entitled ‘The Future is Now: AI, Ethics and You’ was organised by UCD Una Europa, in association with UCD Dublin European Institute and the Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics. The interdisciplinary panel of UCD colleagues (Dr Mini Hosseini, Law, Dr Adam Kelly, English, Dr Susan Leavy, Information and Communication Studies and Dr Brian Mac Namee, Computer Science) discussed the impact of AI on society, within the context of the EU’s recent AI Act. Elaine Burke, renowned tech journalist and broadcaster, acted as chair - offering core insights to the debate. This event provided a welcome opportunity for reflection on the impact of AI, and the role it will have in shaping society moving forward.
