The Centre for Water Resources Research (CWRR) of the School of Civil at University College Dublin (UCD) was formally opened in May 1989 by the Minister for the Environment, Mr Padraig Flynn, T.D.. The establishment of the Centre reflects the College Development Plan policy of promoting the “synergy in Research and the Advancement of Knowledge through the development of Research Centres.”
The aim of the CWRR is to coordinate and develop the resources of the School of Civil, Engineering across the broad spectrum of water resources engineering and thereby to optimise its research capability. The School has a well-established tradition of research in water engineering including hydrologic and hydraulic studies, water quality modelling and environmental impact assessment, water and wastewater treatment science and technology and water pollution control.
