PhD Summary
My PhD establishes the prevalence, triggers, treatments, impacts and experiences of migraine in college students.
This is achieved by three large mixed method projects: a quantitative systematic review and meta-analysis on migraine prevalence, triggers, treatments and impacts in university students, a cross college prevalence survey on the UCD campus which examines migraine prevalence, triggers, treatments and impacts in an Irish university, and qualitative focus group interviews with university students clinically diagnosed with migraine.
The academic objective is to generate peer reviewed publications and place migraine in college students into the contextual framework of the International Classification of Functioning and Disability.
As grassroots level, the research impact aims to influence university health policies by raising awareness around the prevalence and burden of migraine in young adults.
