Masters Programmes:

We offer several master's programmes in sustainable development. One of our flagship programmes is online so if you cannot be in Dublin, you can still enrol in one of our programmes. Tuition fee information is available on the UCD Fees website. Please note that UCD offers a number of graduate scholarships for full-time, self-funding international students, holding an offer of a place on a UCD graduate degree programme. SPIRe, the Centre’s host department, operates a Graduate Scholarship programme, which opens on May 1st. To access details, see SPIRe Graduate Scholarship Scheme. Please note that not all programmes are eligible for this Scholarship, please check the T&C's carefully when they become available.

  • M.Sc. in Sustainable Development (in partnership with UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network)

In September 2015, the United Nations adopted Agenda 2030, an ambitious agenda to promote people, planet, and prosperity. Seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted as part of Agenda 2030, setting forth an ambitious framework of action for countries around the world.

This Masters' programme has been co-created with the SDG Academy, the educational platform of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). This global initiative of the United Nations brings together the world's leading experts on sustainable development, offering an unparalleled educational experience.

This Masters’ programme stands as the first of its kind: an online, affordable, global programme that leverages the collective knowledge of our esteemed network in development studies. It's designed to deliver state-of-the-art, multidisciplinary learning aimed at equipping you with the skills needed to contribute to the SDGs.

  • MA/MSc International Development

The MA/MSc in International Development is designed to provide an interdisciplinary understanding of the process of development by bringing together expertise in politics, economics, agriculture, political economy, and other areas.

Graduates of the programme have found employment with the official Irish aid programme, in Irish and international non-governmental organisations such as Trocaire, Goal, Action Aid and Oxfam, and with agencies of the European Union and the United Nations as well as in journalism, education, local community development, and many other areas

  • MA/MSc International Political Economy 

MA/MSc International Political Economy - explores the international trade, monetary and finance systems, the processes of globalisation, the impact of emerging economies, and the causes and consequences of economic underdevelopment.

The programmes probe the linkages of the global economy with international environmental, human rights, gender and migration issues. It includes core modules covering both the ‘British’ and ‘American’ schools of IPE. Students can choose to complete a dissertation or apply for an internship.
