CRT Business Development Manager

Position Summary

SFI Centre for Research Training in Machine Learning addresses the urgent industry demand for Machine Learning talent. The Centre trains academically outstanding, industry-ready PhD graduates in tightly connected cohorts. These graduates will be future leaders managing the disruption that ML is causing across industry and society, and will strengthen the reputation of Ireland as a global hub for ML education, research, and application.

The Centre is a collaboration between University College Dublin (UCD), Dublin City University (DCU), and the Technological University of Dublin (TU Dublin). It brings together ML-focused, internationally recognised supervisors who work at the cutting-edge of ML research and its application. The Centre works closely with industry partners that contribute to the co-design of a training programme that fits to the needs of the economy and sponsor research projects carried out by the PhD candidates under the mentorship of academic supervisor and industry partners.

The current position is for a CRT Business Development Manager, ML-Labs to lead the delivery of the Centre's industry engagement strategy. The Business Development Manager will identify opportunities and new financial mechanisms to maintain and expand existing funding, and engage and manage industry partners in hosting PhD student placements (a key part of the Centre's training programme). The successful candidate will be expected to develop a portfolio of fully funded and co-funded collaborative research projects and placement opportunities with companies. Success in this role will be measured directly by an increased level of industry investment in the Centre.
