Research Pathology

Conway Fellow, Prof. Aurelie Fabre is a Consultant Histopathologist at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Conway Fellow and Full Clinical Professor in UCD School of Medicine. Prof. Fabre directs the UCD Conway Research Pathology Core Technology with the assistance of Ms Janet McCormack, Senior Technical Officer.

The facility provides state-of-the-art automated immunohistochemistry and linked digital pathology services on frozen and formalin fixed paraffin–embedded human and animal tissue. Staff can also arrange complimentary routine histological services (microtomy/slide cutting etc.). They advise and assist on your translational tissue research project and can help select the most appropriate antibodies. "The DAKO Autostainer Link 48 is used to automatically perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) on histological tissue sections. In general chromogens are used to visualise the staining but fluorophores can also be used (IF).
