About
In alignment with UCD’s strategic vision, the CCLE focuses on four themes:
- Common Law: meaning and extent of influence
- the Courts and lawyers
- Business and Regulation
- Reimagining Teaching Law
CCLE activities under each of these four themes advances in light of common law’s contribution (by means of caselaw) to global society and empowering personal rights and responsibilities.
Lawyers in Practice is a CCLE micro-strategy for the UCD Strategy of Empowering Humanity. It entails the enhancement of authentic dialogue between UCD students and eminent practitioners including, to date: a retired US judge, the Irish attorney general, an Irish solicitor an Irish born attorney at NY Bar. The invited lawyers are handpicked according to their amenability to expanding students’ horizons and supporting students with career guidance.
That Empowering Humanity is premised on equipping our students with particular skills caused the CCLE to launch, in April 2024, its Reimagining Teaching Law stream of pedagogical research in collaboration with partners in our UK network.
